A Full Week of Adventures in Brisbane

This past week in Brisbane was one of my favorites so far, my partner came to visit, and we basically tried to pack in every activity you could possibly do in the city. It was so much fun showing him around and getting to experience it all together.

We started off strong with the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, where we got up close with some of Australia’s cutest wildlife. From there, we headed out to Eat Street Night Market. The food was incredible (definitely worth the hype), even if it felt like a bit of a trek to get there. The next day we explored West End, thrifting through the vintage shops and finishing it off with Yo-chi, which is basically premium frozen yogurt heaven. That was definitely David’s favorite spot, he could not stop talking about it. We also wandered around South Bank, and later We also made a stop at my favorite ramen place, because obviously that had to be on the list.

Over the next couple of days we crammed in even more: walking through the Queen Elizabeth Mall, checking out the Brisbane Museum,  the glass floor observation deck at The Star Hotel, a round of mini golf (which was hilarious), and finishing with hotpot for dinner. On our last full day, we made the trip up to the Australia Zoo, where we actually got to hold a koala! It was such a sweet moment and definitely a highlight. After seeing all the amazing animals, we came back into the city for dessert and a wonderful show at the Brisbane Jazz Club, the perfect way to wrap up the visit.

Friday morning came way too quickly, and I had to drop him off at the airport (which was definitely a little sad). To distract myself, I tried something new on Saturday, a pottery class on the wheel. It was messy and a little challenging, but so much fun! I can definitely see myself going back.

This week wasn’t all highs though. I’ve been a little homesick, and to top it off, my film camera broke. I think it’s a shutter issue, so I had to take it in for repairs. Hopefully I’ll find out next week whether it’s fixable. Fingers crossed!

Even with those little bumps, this week reminded me of how much there is to do and see in Brisbane. It was so special sharing it all with someone I love, and now I’ve got even more memories tied to this city.
