A Little Life Lately — Birthdays, Clay, and the Brisbane Festival
The last couple of weeks have felt like a blur in the best (and sometimes worst) ways, a mix of celebrating, creating, recovering, and soaking in all the good things happening around Brisbane.
Two of my friends had birthdays recently, which of course meant plenty of catch-ups, good food, and staying out later than planned. I love how birthdays always end up being a reminder of how lucky I am to have such wonderful people in my life, even when we’re all busy, those little moments together mean so much.
This month was also my first time experiencing the Brisbane Festival, and wow, it’s such a special time to be in the city. Everywhere you go there’s something happening: lights, art, music, performances, and so much creative energy. It feels like the whole city comes alive for it. I didn’t realize just how big it was until now, and it’s definitely made me appreciate how much art and culture thrive here.
In between all of that, I’ve been spending a ton of time in the pottery studio. I can finally feel myself improving, my hands just seem to understand the clay better now. It’s such a grounding process, and it’s been so satisfying to see my pieces start to actually look how I imagined them.
Of course, not everything was sunshine and creativity, I did get hit with the stomach flu at one point, which knocked me out for a few days. Definitely not the kind of break I wanted, but I guess that’s life balancing things out.
Speaking of breaks, mid-semester break just happened, and I spent most of it with friends, slow mornings, cozy nights, and a lot of laughter. It felt really needed, like pressing pause before diving into the rest of the semester.
All in all, the past few weeks have been full. a mix of art, friendship, rest, and a few challenges sprinkled in. I’m heading into the next few weeks feeling recharged, inspired, and grateful for everything that’s been unfolding lately.
